An Opportunity for a Shared Experience

Having a sibling with special needs is a reality many children are born into. The advantages to having a brother or sister with special needs are numerous and include being more empathetic, more responsible and more resilient. However, these typically developing siblings also shoulder burdens that are not often or easily discussed. Sibling Camp provides the opportunity for typically developing siblings of the campers in a therapy program to interact with others who walk a similar path and have a level of understanding that some people do not.

Sibling Camp

Little Sibs: 9 month-5 years

Our Youngest Campers: Our “Littles” will enjoy play-based programming in the awe-inspiring wilderness environment of Snow Mountain Ranch. We subdivide our infants and preschool/kindergarten groups for awesome outside adventures with our expert staff. Activities may include arts & crafts, tubing hill, scavenger hunt, nature walks, swimming, fishing, water sports and more!

This year we are increasing the number of paid staff for these younger children and using our usual space for this age group only.  Our program will focus on activities and materials that are age appropriate including an afternoon rest period.  Please sign up in the usual manner.  If this is your first time, please follow the sign-up process included in Camp Brain (our registration website).

Sibling Camp

Day Camp Sibs: 5-14 year olds

We are partnering with the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch (SMR).  Our siblings at this age can sign up for the YMCA Camp Chief Ouray Day Camp program which is on-site at SMR. Check out the following link for day camp details.  This partnership provides several advantages including an extended day, more age-appropriate facilities, materials, activities, and many wild adventures with friends.  Our partnership allows us to provide this service at a cheaper cost ($160) than our usual ($300).  The adventures could include “maker” arts, archery, fishing, tubing hill, a waterfall adventure, low and high ropes, ziplining, and much more.  Sign up will start in February 2022 and our staff will provide all the details via email once you complete our Camp Brain registration process.

Sibling Camp

Overnight Sibs: 7-14 year olds

Another excellent partnership with the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch.  Our siblings at this age can sign up for the YMCA Camp Chief Ouray Overnight program which is on-site at SMR for under our usual $300 sibling camp tuition.  We have partnered with our friends at the YMCA to provide a significant discount to the usual thousand dollar plus tuition.  Check out the following link for the overnight camp details.  This partnership provides several advantages including a much more authentic summer camp experience, more age-appropriate facilities, materials, sports, activities, and all the fun Snow Mountain Ranch has to offer.  Sign up will start in February 2022 and our staff will provide all the details via email once you complete our Camp Brain registration process.

If you have any questions on these new opportunities, please call our Executive Director, Brian Conly, at 720-200-4720.  He will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
