🚀We’re excited to introduce Troy, our new Early Start Manager!

'Troy has a deep passion for Adam’s Camp and has been dedicated to its mission for over eight years. He has worked with the Alaska, Nantucket, New Hampshire, and Colorado camps, helping children and adults discover their potential and achieve their dreams. His commitment to empowering others through music and education is at the heart of everything he does.

Troy holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Music Therapy from Georgia College & State University. He also earned an alternative teaching license through Metropolitan State University in Denver and an Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S) in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado.

Beyond his work with Adam’s Camp, Troy serves as a board member for the Nepalese English Education Foundation (NEEF), which provides financial support for children to attend school near the base of Mt. Everest. He is also the owner of Mile High Music, LLC, where he teachers private music lessons on Guitar, Ukulele, piano, and voice. In addition, he teaches in the Boulder Valley School District’s Intensive Learning Centers, working with students who have significant learning needs.

Troy’s love for music extends beyond education—he is an active musician and plays in a local bluegrass band, Colorado Junction String Band.

At home, Troy cherishes time with his wife, Tayler, and their three children, Wilson, Dylan, and Everest. As an adventurous and outdoors-loving family, they enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, and exploring nature together.'

🌟 Camper Spotlight - Patrick! 🌟

'Patrick Lee Murphy was born in Wray, CO July 16, 1997. Because of serious health problems he came to live with his grandparents, Steve and Kelly Murphy at about six months of age. Over the first five years of Patrick’s life, he saw numerous doctors and specialists who attempted to help him grow, control his seizures, and diagnose what his health issues were. Shortly before Patrick’s fifth birthday he became an Adam’s Camper. Over the years camp therapists have helped him become the young man he is plus give us guidance to help him in his everyday life.

Adam’s Camp may have been developed to primarily help campers but it became a family therapy camp for us. Patrick’s Aunt Sheila has joined us in camp bringing her husband, Jeremy, and her three children, Gracie, Lillie, and Blake. Over the years her children have taken advantage of the Siblings Camp program. Summer 2025 will be Lillie’s third year as a volunteer.

Patrick’s early time spent attending Adam’s Camp was all about therapy. As he grew older, Adam’s Camp expanded, creating the Renegades for Patrick and his team. These special teams were created to help young adults develop and enjoy their lives as people without intellectual and developmental disabilities would. He will never hold a job, be able to drive, care for himself, or have a family of his own. He will be able to enjoy music, good food, a horseback ride, a rafting trip, swimming, or a simple ride in the country. Patrick enjoys gathering with his fellow Renegades for the adventures and fellowship at Snow Mountain Ranch.

Our goal for Patrick is to give him the best possible opportunities that enable him to enjoy life. We are looking forward to summer when he will join his fellow Renegades at Adam’s Camp for more adventures.'

🌟Camper Spotlight - Ricky🌟

'I like to think of Adam's Camp as the stone that caused the ripple effect for our family. It has impacted us in such a variety of ways!

Ricky's first year of Adam's camp was 2022. Before Adam's Camp, we struggled to find fun experiences for Ricky. Most recreational activities didn't have the resources to handle Ricky's complex needs.

We already had therapies in place but were concerned he was missing out on the fun of being a kid. Yes, we could try as a family but with two very younger siblings it always turned into a bit of mess. Not to mention, anyone who knows Ricky, knows how social and outgoing he is. He definitely didn't want to be tied down with mom and dad!

Adam's Camp has been the whole package for our family. We all thrived so much that first year that we have made it a priority every summer to return. Ricky has a blast in a safe therapeutic environment. He gets to flex his independence, while his younger mischievous siblings love making their mark at sibling camp. Every summer, our oldest son has found purpose volunteering with the therapy team and his father and I get to recharge.

We have created such a great network of friends who have helped us find other opportunities for Ricky. Where we once felt Ricky was missing out, we now struggle to juggle all the different activities he is participating in.
