Ages 6 Months–4 Years
Colorado Christian Academy
Early Start is a half-day intensive therapy program for children 6 months to 4 years old.

Intensive, Family-Centered Therapy

The early ages are a golden opportunity for our intensive therapy model. We see 80% of our kids make significant progress in their developmental goals within this one-week program!

While the kids and their caregivers are enjoying their playful therapy sibling care will be provided on site.

A Day in the Life of Early Start

  • Early Start typically runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to noon.
  • 8:30 am – Check-in and breakfast.
  • 9 am – Opening circle.
  • 9:15 am – Therapy begins
  • 11:45 am – Closing circle.

Each child’s needs are taken into consideration while improving functional communication. Speech Therapists assist children with receptive and expressive language development, speech disorders such as apraxia/dysarthria, fluency disorders and anything else that might prevent the child from effective communication. Strategies to improve verbalization, sign, Assistive-Augmentative Technology, including low/mid/high technology, and overall communication across a variety of settings are highlighted.

Campers learn how to move their body and access their environment while participating in play therapy activities. Physical Therapists address strength, balance, coordination, endurance, motor planning and problem solving.

Occupational Therapists work with campers on improving their fine motor, physical and mental skills to become more independent with self-care, recreation, and all other goal-related life skills and activities.

Music Therapy uses music to address the communication, motor, sensory, cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral goals of each camper. Through musical involvement in a therapeutic context, campers’ abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives.

In addition to the communicative and social-emotional benefits, instrumental play and movement to music also enhances gross and fine motor skills. Campers find new avenues to communicate and move and express their feelings, which can increase their motivation to engage with others and their environment.

With every member of the team working on three identified personal growth goals, significant progress is noted by the end of the week. Many campers have taken their first steps, said their first word, or independently fed themselves. Parents report substantial gains that carry over into home and school.

What We Deliver to You as a Caregiver

Caregivers play a critical role in the life of their child. Our therapists will provide support in collaboration with caregivers through intentionally designed therapy experiences. At the end of the week, caregivers will receive a comprehensive study of their child. Therapy teams work for hours after the therapy day, analyzing each camper’s performance and response to strategies. They create plans for each day of camp, developing approaches which will further challenge each camper.

  • Comprehensive digital clinical report that outlines goals, strategies, outcomes and recommendations
  • Individualized virtual caregiver conferences with the therapy team on the final day of camp
  • Parent Breakfast with opportunities to network, learn, and connect
