Memorial Scholarships
-
Anna and John J. Sie Foundation Scholarship
Among the many great works being done by the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation is this scholarship fund for campers with Down Syndrome, established in the name of foundation Executive Director Michelle Sie Whitten’s parents. -
Ben Wharton Memorial Scholarship
Ben Wharton began attending Adam’s Camp as a very young child and continued his journey by participating in one or two therapy camps each summer, eventually attending our Adventure Camp. Ben passed away at age 26, but he and his family will forever be a part of the Adam’s Camp family. As Ben always sang, “It’s a small world after all.” -
Hallie Siegel Memorial Scholarship
Hallie Siegel was an enthusiastic Adventure Camper known for her compassion and caretaking of others. Her father, Don Siegel, started a scholarship in her honor in 2009. Hallie passed away when she was 23 in 2014, but her memory lives on through her scholarship fund. -
Jenna Gruben Morrill Memorial Scholarship
Blessed with a gift for working with our kids with special needs, Occupational Therapist Jenna Gruben Morrill became one of our favorite therapists/counselors at our summer camps. Jenna was killed in an automobile accident in 2009 and we established this scholarship fund in her memory. -
Josh Hart Memorial Scholarship
Josh Hart was aptly named. He had a heart for kids with special needs that is uncommon. As a Counselor, Josh brought great joy to many of our campers over the years. A scholarship fund was created to remember Josh, who passed away suddenly in 2011. -
Karel Horney Scholarship Fund
Karel Horney, along with her family and a physical therapist, created Adam’s Camp in 1986. After years of volunteering, Karel took the helm and led Adam’s Camp as Executive Director for many years until her retirement in 2015. In recognition of the tremendous impact Karel has had on our children, families and all of Adam’s Camp, a scholarship fund has been created in her name to ensure that her impact benefits campers and families for years to come. -
Karl and Paige Schuster Scholarship Fund
Paige has been a friend to Adam’s Camp for many years, serving on our board of directors as well as many committees. Both Paige and Karl continue to support Adam’s Camp and have created a scholarship fund to support families that have welcomed a child through adoption. -
Kerry Kavanagh Memorial Scholarship
Three-year old Kerry passed away just one year after her second session of Adam’s Camp. Kerry’s family chose to remember their sweet daughter by establishing a scholarship fund in her name. -
Kyle Reddy Memorial Scholarship
Kyle and his family attended Adam’s Camp for three years and his dad, Kevin, became involved by serving on our Board of Directors. When Kyle passed away tragically at Christmas in 2008, Adam’s Camp created a scholarship fund in his memory, honoring Kyle and recognizing the work his father continues to do to strengthen Adam’s Camp. -
Lisa Michelle Klumb Memorial Scholarship
Camp Nurse Lisa Klumb (daughter of volunteer manager Lorie Klumb and twin sister of camp nurse Traci Klumb) passed away unexpectedly July 28, 2019 at Snow Mountain Ranch. Lisa and Traci were preparing to serve as the nurses for week 5 of camp. They were up for week 2 and were immediately welcomed into the Adam’s Camp family. After a beautiful, life-altering experience during week 2, they were looking forward to helping during week 5. Born Sept. 7, 1984, in Denver, Lisa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She had experience working in orthopedics and as an operating room circulator. Most recently she worked in pre- and post-op at a Colorado surgery center. Lisa loved reading, movies and especially musical theater. Family was her priority, as were her dogs Pumba and Nala. In addition to Lorie and Traci, Lisa leaves her dad and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. -
Meredith Joan Clark Memorial Scholarship
With her brilliant smile and twinkling blue eyes, Meredith’s joyful spirit shined through. She shared her sense of humor, curiosity and enjoyment of music with fellow campers before her sudden passing in 2015. We are pleased to honor and remember Meredith with this scholarship fund. -
Peter Naffah Memorial Scholarship Fund
Peter’s life was cut short by a sudden illness at the age of 31, but not before he had the chance to leave an indelible mark on all who knew him. Peter participated in Adventure Camp for nearly twenty years and joined many other Adam’s Camp activities as well, always sharing his joy, his energy, and his concern for others. Peter will certainly be missed but will never be forgotten. Scholarship donations given in his name will help ensure that many campers can share the joy and fellowship of camp for years to come. -
Rebecca Snyder Memorial Scholarship
Nothing made Rebecca happier than the time she spent at Adam’s Camp! Sadly Rebecca left us when she was 21 as the result of an accident. We are honored to sustain her memory through this memorial scholarship, created by her family in her name. -
Robert R. Johnson Memorial Scholarship
The Johnson family joined the Adam’s Camp family when their son Erik, who has Down Syndrome, was less than a year old and attended our first Early Start session. His mother Laura became Adam’s Camp’s first Executive Director, and his father Bob was often a part of the work that went into supporting this fledgling organization. Bob passed away in 2010. But for all who loved him, their wonderful memories of Bob led to support for this scholarship fund created in his name. -
Sally Gart Scholarship Fund
Our friend Sally Gart was introduced to Adam’s Camp through the grandmother of camper, Naomi Bennett. Sally was so touched by our work that she continued to donate to Adam’s Camp, and we created a scholarship fund in 2004 to honor her support. Sally continues to generously support this scholarship fund. -
Sean Dwyer Memorial Scholarship
Sean Dwyer attended Adam’s Camp with his family for many years. He became well known to the Adam’s Camp family, and his father served on the Board of Directors. It seemed natural to honor Sean and his family with a scholarship fund, which was created in his honor when he passed away in 2008. -
Veronica Brennan Memorial Scholarship
Adam’s Camp lost a champion and friend in July, 2016. Veronica, shown here at Adam’s Camp with her husband Jim and children, Ian and Isabella, was a pillar for her family, her community and for Adam’s Camp. Our days are a little darker because she is gone, but those of us who knew “V” are grateful for the time we had with her, however brief, and for how she enriched our days and made the world a better place.
